TJ Warren, a small forward for the Phoenix Suns NBA team, returned to his elementary school -Research Triangle Charter Academy – on Feb. 20.
Warren spoke to the RTCA girls and boys basketball teams and was the featured speaker for an assembly. Through the TJ Warren Foundation, the former RTCA basketball player, was able to donate a book to each student at the school.
Two of RTCA’s staff members worked at the school when he attended – registrar, Mrs. Shannon Tabron and the intervention specialist Ms. Goodyear.
Principal Wayne Muhammad honored Warren with a plaque last year. His mother accepted on his behalf and the plaque hangs in the school.
“It was awesome,” said Muhammad. “The kids kept saying ‘he’s so tall’ and ‘I can’t believe he went to our school’.”
The students loved seeing and hearing from an alumni!
